Merry Christmas...
...and a happy new year 2010 to all my users, contributers and testers of SmallTune. Let's see, what 2010 will happen. ;)
Modules - make it your app!
Currently, SmallTune is undergoing some changes. It's going to put "lightweight" to a new level. The new, main idea is to outsource as much features as possible. There will be two packages: The usual one, which contains the playlist module, the hotkey module, the Multimedia Keys module, the internet radio module and some usual searchprovider. Much likely what SmallTune is today.
And then, there is the so called "custom" version. It only contains the naked *.exe, which can open a MP3, OGG, FLAC or WAV - File. You can then download the modules you like. Examples:
- You listen to Internet streams only, and don't need a playlist to play local files. So you just download the internet radio module.
- You do not listen to internet streams. But you have a huge collection of files. So you simply download the playlist plugin.
- You would like to create M3U or PLS Files from your playlist. You also would like to send files to your MP3-Player. So you simply download the corresponding modules, and SmallTune will have the necessary functionality.
- You like to sing along with your favourite song. Go, and download the corresponding module.
- You buy music via Amazon? Grab the corresponding module, and you can buy it with a single click.
It's up to you to add as much functionality as you like, or keep it as simple as possible.
Release of the module system is expected on February or March 2010.
No new version till February 2010
I just wanted to inform you, that there will be no new version until February 2010. As already stated before, I've some exams to manage (whish me luck!), so I've to focus on this.
Of course, you can still contribute to the project. Either by translating SmallTune into your language, or by pariticipating in the current poll.
P.S.: Security issues will be fixed immediately.
SmallTune needs you!
SmallTune needs you. ;)
If you are firm with English, but your native language is danish, french or anything else, and you would like to contribute to SmallTune, please, take a look at the translations.
Any help is appreciated. :)
